Stop by anytime between 1:00–3:00 PM. Discover the wonder of wild birds up close during this interactive bird banding open house. Watch a skilled bander carefully capture, identify, band, and release winter birds—a process that helps scientists track migration and monitor bird populations. It’s a rare chance to see these beautiful creatures in hand. All banding, marking, and sampling is being conducted under a federally authorized Bird Banding Permit issued by the U.S. Geological Survey’s Bird Banding Laboratory. This event takes place entirely outdoors, so bundle up and join us! Banding runs continuously; come and go as you please.
