Field day Offerings

These wild experiences are all about getting outdoors and enjoying nature together with friends, fun, and learning. Start your day with an adventure or get out and about after school for some big adventure in a short time!
 
Field Days is a four week session offered:
Weds. 9:30 - 11:30 or 1:00 - 3:00: Nov 4, Nov 11, Nov 18, Dec 2 (rain date Dec 9)
 
November Field Days is an indoor/outdoor program, but be prepared for most activities to take place outdoors.
Group maximum is 8 participants.

Nature from the Ground Up
Grades K & 1

Nature is below us, around us and above us.  Let’s explore it! Each day we will meet a live animal, create a nature themed craft, read a nature story, and go on a destination hike.  From salamanders under our feet, to camouflaged creatures of the prairie and birds in the woods, get ready to experience it all. Dress to be outside and to get dirty! 
 

CSI - Critter Scene Investigation
Grades 2 & 3

Wouldn’t you love to know what animals are doing when we aren’t looking?  Luckily for us, they leave behind many clues that help us solve the mystery.   Become a Quarry Hill C.S.I. agent and join us in the investigation.  Investigate tracks, bones, scat and more using our nature detective skills throughout the park! Dress to be outside and to get dirty!  


Trap, Track & Cache
Grades 4 & 5

Here is a chance to discover your inner naturalist and learn all about different animals in different parts of the park. Learn how to track mammals through the woods and set trail cameras to spy on them. Discover who is living in the cave and complete cave critter surveys. Set traps to catch birds and dissect owl pellets, and finally explore less traveled areas of the park as you practice your geo-caching skills with a modern day treasure hunt! Dress to be outside and to get dirty!
