Celebrate and Care for Our Earth

Earth Day Extravaganza – Open House
Tuesday, April 22, 4:00 - 6:00 pm
No Fee, No Registration Required
Be a player in an Animal Survival Game played on our life-size outdoor game board. Test your animal knowledge and make the best choices to help you ‘survive’ all the way to the end of the trail. Survive or not, enjoy a live animal program featuring Minnesota’s “Most Wanted” (animals in need of protection); the Blanding’s Turtle & the Timber Rattlesnake. Up close interactions and facts to delight all ages, this is a must do!

Earth Day Geo-Cache In & Trash Out
Saturday, April 26, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
This family fun event is sure to please, so bring everyone for some outdoor time and geo-caching. We supply the garbage bags and disposal so that you can help keep our planet clean. Simply pick up any trash you might come across on your way to the various geo-caches in the park. If you don't have your own GPS, no worries, we can set your family up with a free rental GPS while you are out and about. Come do your part to save the planet while having some fun with the family at the same time.

Cache in Trash out (CITO) is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community. Geocachers around the world are dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places. Learn more athttp://www.geocaching.com/cito/.

Sundays at Quarry Hill

Sunday programs are open to the public; all ages are welcome to participate. All programs start at 1:30 pm and last approximately one hour. Due to space limitations, pre-registration is recommended for the cave tours.

Bird Sundays*
Experience the wonder of birds up close! We will talk about our bird related topic of the month and activities will typically include trapping, netting, banding, and releasing of birds.
Cave Sundays*
Find out about the history of Quarry Hill Park with a tour of our historic sandstone caves, carved in 1882. The cave is a short 10 minute walk from the Nature Center. There will be an optional hike after the cave tour to a featured site. Pre-registration is recommended for cave tours.
Critter Sundays*
Our focus will be on one or more of Quarry Hill's resident live animals. Learn what makes them special and if they are hungry, participant in animal feeding.
Nature Sundays*
Join us as we explore an outdoor nature topic that will include a hike or activity.
